ERC affirms that negotiations with the PSOE have intensified but says that they are still far from an agreement

Sans sees the forgiveness of Catalonia's debt as a "patch" and calls for a structural solution

BARCELONA, 30 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The ERC spokesperson, Raquel Sans, assured this Monday that negotiations with the PSOE have intensified to address the so-called 'Catalonia folder', which includes the amnesty, talking about the right to self-determination and issues such as improving financing and the full transfer of Rodalies, but that "there is still no agreement."

"It is true that in recent days negotiations have intensified, but we are still far from an agreement. This agreement does not yet exist," he highlighted at a press conference, after the Republicans sent alarm signals to the socialists last week. about the negotiation.

After warning that these are decisive days and that ERC will not enter into last-minute negotiations, he celebrated that the acting president of the Government and PSOE candidate for re-election, Pedro Sánchez, has referred to the amnesty for the first time but "it is just one of the subfolders of the 'Catalunya folder'.

"We also put on the table the need to resolve the conflict through the right to self-determination and the well-being of citizens, which involves improving the financing of Catalonia," he stressed.

Regarding the amnesty law, Sans has defended that "a total solution must be sought and a response to everything that was generated around 1-O" and has insisted on the request that there be coordination between all the actors involved in the negotiation, in implicit allusion to Junts.

In terms of financing, when asked if they would accept debt forgiveness, he considered that it is "a partial, non-structural solution to the problem of the chronic fiscal deficit" that Catalonia has.

"Debt forgiveness is nothing more than a patch on a structural problem that affects and suffocates Catalonia's finances," said the Republican spokesperson, who has also criticized the role played by the PSC in all of this.

And, according to Sans, the PSC is carrying out "a policy of sitting back" on an issue that, in his opinion, affects the interests of all Catalans.

In relation to the fact that an investiture plenary session could be held next week, Sans has warned the PSOE that "they should have a closed agreement, and right now they do not have the agreement."

"ERC's requests are very clear. Our portfolio is to defend the interests of Catalonia. If they are in a hurry, they must respond to our questions," Sans warned, emphasizing that the responsibility lies with the PSOE.

"Is Pedro Sánchez willing to not be sworn in for not wanting to talk about better financing for Catalonia or trains? Are they willing to let PP and Vox govern because they are not able to respond to the needs of Catalans? Whoever has the need to be invested is Sánchez," he concluded.
