Drago Canarias, Alberto Rodríguez's party, announces an agreement with Sumar to run together in the elections

The confederal co-spokesman for Drago Canarias, Alberto Rodríguez, announced on Tuesday an agreement with Sumar, the party of second vice president Yolanda Díaz, to run together in the next general elections on July 23.

Alberto Rodríguez has indicated in a press conference, in which he has reported the position of Drago Canarias regarding the upcoming elections, that it is time "to look to the future, have the will to add, to integrate". "We went out to win. On 23J we can have an institutional policy that is more like our people," the former leader of the purple formation has transferred.

In this way, the formation joins the list of parties that have already expressed their intention to adhere to a broad candidacy of progressive forces, led by Díaz, for these elections.

For example, the Verdes Equo executive has already advanced its commitment to go to the elections together with Sumar and groups such as IU and En Comú Podem have already publicly indicated their support for Sumar, with a view to forming a broad front to the left of the PSOE.

Rodríguez has pointed out that Drago Canarias is "a space with an outstretched hand for dialogue from respect and Canarian obedience". For this reason, he was pleased to be able to announce an agreement with Sumar "without exhausting the deadlines and always thinking about the public."

In this sense, from the Canarian formation they have emphasized that the negotiations "have had rigorous deadlines and content, based on mutual respect."

The agreement reached by Drago Canarias and Sumar covers the two circumscriptions of the Canary Islands. Likewise, Alberto Rodríguez has commented that the agreement "has been carried out with the best of wills and maintaining discretion over the ongoing negotiations."

In the same way, he has insisted that the pact "respects Canarian obedience in decision-making and places the Canary Islands in a framework of mutual respect with other territories and transforming forces of the State as a whole"

He also explained that the agreement has already been endorsed by the majority of the Drago Canarias confederal assembly and appeals to the group of formations that can integrate this proposal and voting option "to work from the illusion to advance in our land and be responsible with our town".

"We know what lies ahead, what the alternatives are, let's act with enthusiasm and not fall into the discourse of fear, we must generate illusion," he stated.
