The governor of Belgorod, Viacheslav Gladkov, reported this Sunday the death of at least 24 people after new attacks by Ukrainian forces on the capital of the Russian region of the same name, in response to the latest offensive on Friday launched by Russia against several Ukrainian cities.

"In Belgorod, as a result of the massive bombing by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 24 people have died," including some minors and another 108 injured, according to Gladkov on his Telegram account.

"We will do everything possible to get them back home as quickly as possible," said Gladkov, who highlighted that more than 2,000 people have been working voluntarily during the last few hours to try to rebuild the city after the attacks this Saturday. .

For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed this Sunday in an interview for the state news agency that each of the "Ukrainian criminals" will receive the punishment they deserve for the "atrocities" committed during the war.

Lavrov has highlighted that there are already more than 200 representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who have been sentenced since the beginning of the invasion more than 22 months ago. "The same fate awaits all other criminals. Each of them will receive their deserved punishment," he emphasized.

Among those identified by Russian Justice, Lavrov explained, there are not only mercenaries and members of "radical nationalist" militias, but also members of the military and political high command of Ukraine.

The attack on Belgorod responds to Russian bombings that left around 40 dead and more than 150 injured in several Ukrainian cities, including kyiv, on Friday.
