Courtois suffers a torn anterior cruciate ligament

MADRID, 10 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Real Madrid's Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, will miss several months of competition in the 2023-2024 season after suffering a serious left knee injury on Thursday during team training, as confirmed by the Real Madrid team.

"After the tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois, he has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days," the 14-time European champion said in a statement.

At the moment, Real Madrid has not indicated any period of absence for the international goalkeeper, although the type of injury indicates that, in the best of cases, he will be off the pitch for at least six months, so it is not I would return until 2024.

This injury represents a setback for Carlo Ancelotti's team, which has lost its starting goalkeeper for a long time, key in recent successes and a vital pillar in defense, so the Madrid club must decide whether to go to the market in search of a substitute or trust the Ukrainian Andrey Lunin.
