Compromís replies to Iglesias that "it does not veto anyone" from Podemos in Sumar and that its "unfounded" reproaches do not help

He assures that he will not return to Congress and will remain in the regional parliament

MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Compromís candidate in the last 28M elections, Joan Baldoví, has stated that his formation "is not vetoing anyone" in the negotiations for the confluence agreement with Sumar for the 23J elections. Therefore, he has reproached former vice president Pablo Iglesias for launching "absolutely unfounded reproaches" towards his party.

This has been transferred in statements to TVE, collected by Europa Press, questioned by the words of Iglesias yesterday on Cadena Ser, who argued that Más Madrid, comunes and Compromís do not want an agreement with Podemos and criticized that vetoes are being raised against leaders of the purple formation.

For Baldoví, this attitude of the former leader of Podemos "does not help" and confronts that in the morning "discretion" is requested, in reference to the position of the state leadership of Podemos, and at night "reproaches" are made that are not true and generating a "rarefied atmosphere".

"Compromís is not vetoing anyone. It seems to me that in order to reach agreements, discretion, not being loud, reproaching other forces, I think they do not help and you will never find Compromís there, we are serious people who negotiate with discretion to reach agreements", he emphasized.

Asked if he believes that the Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, should step aside for this electoral event, Baldoví replied that he will never say what a political organization or leader has to do, since the very independence that he demands Compromís grants it to others as well.

"What Mr. Garzón did the other day (who renounced going to the congressional lists) seemed very good to me, but I will never be the one to tell anyone if they should step aside. We are negotiating this agreement with Sumar and we have never said this person or this person has to go or does not have to go," he emphasized.

On the other hand, the leader of Compromís has reaffirmed that they have asked to lead the electoral lists in the Valencian Community, given that the results of 28M support this position, although he has added that they are "starting conditions" and that they do not put "red lines" . In any case, he has stressed that they have not done anything different from what they already proposed in 2015 when they reached an alliance with Podemos to run together in that year's elections.

Finally, Baldoví has guaranteed that he will remain in the regional parliament because he has a "commitment" to the people and absolutely rules out aspiring to return to Congress. "It would be disrespectful to the voters who participated in the Valencian elections now to return to Congress. No, I am going to stay to oppose", he has settled.
