Carmen Calvo rejects "wombs for rent": "It is reusing women as merchandise"

The National Socialist deputy and former minister, Carmen Calvo, has shown the PSOE opposition to surrogate pregnancy, something that, she has said, "does not exist" because, in her opinion, "they are called surrogates."

"It is to use women again as merchandise in a market that does not respect us, that does not treat us with the dignity of human rights and that allows babies to be bought and sold," Calvo rejected, who offered this last Wednesday a talk-colloquium in an act organized by the PSOE of the city of Cuenca.

Within this framework, she stressed that in Spain "you cannot sell an organ and you cannot sell or buy a baby", something that "is very important for women's human rights".

"The women who are forced into these situations are usually poor, women in precariousness, on the margins, just what we socialists and socialist feminists fight against," she claimed.

For this reason, she has settled, "women have the right to control our maternity, finally since the 20th century to here we have parental authority over our children, which patriarchy and an unfair society have denied us throughout history. history, and now our wombs cannot be used, our bodies cannot be merchandise and we have a resounding opposition to an issue that today has become part of the controversy and public conversation", he said in reference to the controversy open after learning that the television company Ana Obregón has resorted to this technique.
