Calviño shows "absolute" respect for Ferrovial's decision but does not share his arguments

MADRID, 11 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, has shown her "absolute" respect for Ferrovial's decision, but considers that "there is no basis" to make this business decision.

Specifically, Calviño referred to the report prepared by the CNMV and Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) in which it "confirms" that there is no obstacle for Ferrovial to be eligible for double listing in Spain and the United States, the main economic argument that the company had used to move its headquarters to the Netherlands.

"According to the technical analysis, there is no such economic motivation, which is what the company has used in public to try to justify its decision," insisted the minister during the company conference that she held on Tuesday afternoon in Washington.

Despite not seeing any impediment and having repeated this idea during her appearance, the vice president has defended that the Government "resolutely" supports Spanish companies to have the best access to international financing, as they have been doing "since day one ".

Ferrovial has defended that the operation designed to transfer its headquarters to the Netherlands does have economic reasons for the future evolution of the company, which would allow it to take advantage of the tax advantages that Spanish regulations include for cross-border mergers such as the one Ferrovial is going to to be executed with its Dutch subsidiary.
