Borja Iglesias resigns from the national team "until things change" with Rubiales

MADRID, 25 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish international footballer Borja Iglesias, striker for Real Betis, has announced this Friday his decision "not to return to the national team" until things change, after Luis Rubiales has not resigned as president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation ( RFEF), and has urged that this type of act "do not go unpunished".

"Wearing the shirt of the Spanish national team is one of the greatest things that has happened to me in my career. I don't know if at some point I will be an option again, but I have made the decision not to return to the national team until things change and this type of act does not go unpunished", Iglesias announced from his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The Betic striker has been "sad and disappointed" by the situation, after the kiss given by Rubiales to Jenni Hermoso last Sunday, and has stressed that "he does not" feel "represented by what has happened" in the City of Soccer of Las Rozas. "It seems unfortunate to me that they continue to press and focus on a colleague," he said in this regard.

Iglesias has played two international matches with the absolute Spanish team, and was called up in the first list of the current coach, Luis de la Fuente, for the qualifying matches for the next European Championship against Scotland and Norway.
