Bolaños describes the PP and Vox agreements as "shame pacts" because they deny the equality of LGTBI people

MADRID, 1 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, has criticized this Saturday the pacts "of shame" of the Popular Party and Vox because, according to what he said, he maintains that "LGBTI people do not have the same rights as others".

The minister has pointed out in an act framed in the Pride celebrations organized by the PSOE in Madrid that "it is sad that there are forces on the right and the ultra-right that are determined to degrade rights and curtail freedoms for LGTBI people".

"Defending LGTBI rights is defending human rights and, therefore, it is not ideological or partisan," added Bolaños to add that their protection "should be shared by all political forces" in the same way that rights are equated of women and workers as human rights.

That is why this day, in which the events and celebrations for Pride are concentrated, is "very important", according to Bolaños, because it is when "we are seeing hate speech outside our country and also within it, which is what later legitimizes hate behaviors and laws", at the same time that he has pointed out the banners of "shame" deployed by Vox in Madrid, the speeches of the leaders of the ultra-right and the aforementioned pacts between PP and Vox.

Bolaños took the opportunity to refer to the speech by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in the Ukrainian parliament on the occasion of the beginning this Saturday of the Spanish presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) by reaffirming "the commitment not only of Spain, but of the EU, with democratic values, with Europe and with democracy".

According to Bolaños, Russia's aggression against Ukraine is an attack on democracy and our values, and for this reason "it is so closely linked to Pride Day; we want societies that are open and pluralistic" in the face of aggressors like Russia and Putin, who they want closed societies without freedoms.

For this reason, Bolaños has reiterated the commitment of Spain and the Union expressed by the head of the Executive "as long as Ukraine needs it."
