The PSdeG candidate encourages citizens to participate in the "festival of democracy" to "decide the Galicia of the future" they want

LUGO, 18 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSdeG-PSOE candidate for the presidency of the Xunta, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, stated this Sunday in Lugo, after exercising his right to vote at the stroke of 11:30 a.m., that he will face the election day with "very good vibes" and has invited all citizens summoned to the polls to participate in "a historic day for Galicia" of the "true festival of democracy."

This was stated by the leader of the socialist candidacy in statements to the media offered at the door of the CEIP Rosalía de Castro in the capital of Lugo, where he cast his vote at the polls accompanied by the number two on the PSdeG list for the province of Lugo, Lara Méndez.

"I have very good vibes, but we will see after eight, because now there is little left, we will know very soon. But I have very good vibes with this process and with these elections," said Gómez Besteiro, who made his appearance at the polling station at 11:26 in the morning, smiling and at a time of low turnout at the polls.

The socialist presidential candidate, who has highlighted the "very purposeful" and "positive" campaign carried out by his party in recent weeks, has called for massive participation this Sunday: "We encourage everyone to go out and vote to decide the future of Galicia, to participate in this true celebration of democracy that is today, February 18, when all Galicians are called to decide the future Galicia that they want," he proclaimed.

Besteiro, who cordially greeted the members of the electoral table after casting his vote in the ballot box, expressed his gratitude to "all the social agents" who participate in the electoral process and emphasized the importance of regional elections that , he said, can "mark history."

"I encourage everyone to go out and vote. With your vote is how you mark history, today is a historic day for Galicia and I want the more people to vote, the better, to participate in the history of Galicia and the future of Galicia", he stressed.

The PSdeG candidate for the presidency of the Xunta de Galicia has concluded his brief intervention by stating that he will live the rest of the election day "like any Galician man or woman." "The rest of the day will be a normal day, a Sunday morning day. Then I will go to the headquarters of our party in Santiago where I will follow the end of the election day and the counting, but it will be a normal day," he indicated.

The PSdeG-PSOE aspires to improve this Sunday in the Galician elections its results from the last regional elections, held in 2020 and where the socialists were the third most supported force with 28,465 votes (17.42% of the votes) and two seats, compared to the three that the BNG obtained and the nine of the PP, the force with the most votes.
