Belarra says that Díaz "has the key to unity" and "does not understand" why he does not commit to Podemos on primaries

MADRID, 29 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of Podemos and Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, has affirmed that the "key to unity" is held by the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, and that this happens by signing a joint declaration on open primaries to be able to cover her, as is his wish, in the act on Sunday where the announcement of his candidacy is expected.

What's more, he has opined in statements to 'Canal Red', collected by Europa Press, that this requirement that he raises is "very simple" and "he does not understand" why Díaz does not want to commit to Podemos when they only ask him for open primaries, since he does not know whether it is "something of hers" or of "other forces with whom she has an agreement".

However, he will try to achieve this minimum agreement until the last moment, but making it clear that it is "very important to know how this unit is built.

"Yolanda Díaz has the unit in her hand. The unit happens because it is the people who choose the best possible team for that task. It is simple, very possible and we would like to be covering the vice president in a long-awaited announcement," he has shelled.

And it is that Belarra has indicated that the unit cannot be built in "despatches", given that the precedent of the coalition 'For Andalusia' that formed Podemos, IU and Más País was an "absolute nonsense" and a "unit with its back to the citizenship" that they should not repeat.

Therefore, the general secretary of Podemos has indicated that they are in favor of unity and of giving a "voice to the people" for this because the "progressive" bases want it that way.

In fact, he has said that a broad confluence is the condition to guarantee that his political space governs with more force and to be the majority wing of a coalition Executive to advance in the transformations of the country, because the PSOE is a "conservative" force. in the "literal sense of the term" and does not stop "putting brakes" and "blocking" social advances.

Belarra has said that it is "fundamental" in this process of regrouping of the left to "take care of the identity of Podemos", which is its ability to be "brave" because it puts the necessary measures on the table. "Now what is at stake is the possibility of what Podemos represents continuing," he added.
