BBVA will distribute 2,276 million this Wednesday for its complementary dividend of 0.39 euros

BBVA will pay this Wednesday a complementary dividend of 0.39 euros per share, which represents an increase of 26% compared to what it paid in 2023, and will distribute a total of 2,276 million euros among its shareholders.

These 0.39 euros gross per share that the bank delivers this week to its shareholders, added to the 0.16 euros that it already paid last October, raise the cash dividend for 2023 to 0.55 euros gross per share. share, 28% more than the previous year.

The BBVA shareholder remuneration charged to 2023 is completed with a share buyback of 781 million euros that began on March 4 and ended yesterday, Tuesday.

In total, BBVA has dedicated 4,010 million euros (50% of the profit reported last year) to remunerating its shareholders, between the cash dividend of 55 gross euro cents per share (16 cents paid in October 2023 and 39 cents that will be paid this Wednesday) and this share repurchase.

This remuneration is consistent with the group's shareholder remuneration policy, which contemplates distributing between 40% and 50% of the profit for the year annually, with the option of combining cash payment with share repurchase.

This is the second buyback included in the shareholder remuneration that the entity has carried out in the last two years. Thus, on April 21, 2023, BBVA concluded a buyback for an amount of 422 million euros.

In addition, BBVA has executed two other buyback programs considered extraordinary distributions to shareholders. Firstly, in August 2022, a program worth €3.16 billion was completed. In November 2023, another extraordinary share buyback for €1 billion was successfully concluded.

Among all the buyback programs carried out from November 2021 to date, the bank has repurchased shares equivalent to 14% of the total, for a combined amount of 5,363 million euros.
