Albares reduces Yolanda Díaz's words about Morocco being a dictatorship to "individual opinions"

STRASBOURG (FRANCE), 17 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) -

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, pointed out this Monday that the words of the Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, about Morocco being a dictatorship are "individual opinions" and that the Spain's position is established in the high-level statements with Rabat.

After Yolanda Díaz assured on a television program that Morocco is a dictatorship and that if she became president of the Government she would reverse the decision to recognize the Moroccan plan on Western Sahara, Albares has downplayed the matter, assuring that it does not represent the Executive as a whole.

"These statements are individual statements. There may be opinions from other political groups, but what is clear is that the way in which the Government of Spain faces its relations with its neighborhood," he indicated in statements from Strasbourg, France, for emphasize that it has a "collaboration and cooperation" relationship with Morocco.

In this sense, the person in charge of Foreign Affairs has defended "mutual respect" and "responsibility" in the relationship with Rabat. "Certainly, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, it is how I always conduct myself in relations with all our neighbors and it is what the Government is going to continue doing", he pointed out.
