Aerial and ground resources work on the fire in Puerto Real (Cádiz), which has burned 60 hectares

PUERTO REAL (CADIZ), 7 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Two helicopters from the Plan to Fight Forest Fires in Andalusia, Plan Infoca, and numerous ground media continue to work this Monday to control the fire that broke out this Sunday in Las Canteras Park, in the municipality of Puerto Real (Cádiz) and which has already calcined around 60 hectares, according to the first estimates of Infoca.

The easterly wind continues to blow in this area and an increase in intensity is expected from midday, although it is expected that by then the work "has not been compromised" nor will there be any incidents in the development of the control and settlement work being carried out Infoca troops on the ground, as sources from the device have explained to Europa Press.

In addition, from the Infoca they have asked the residents of the town to avoid access to the Parque de las Canteras, where branches and entire trees are falling. In a message on Twitter collected by Europa Press, they have detailed that, although the fire is stabilized, entering some areas is endangering their physical integrity.

As for the deployment, a medium-heavy and a light helicopter have been participating since this morning as air resources and two groups of forest firefighters, an operations technician, an extinction technician, an environmental agent and two fire engines from the ground.

In statements to the media, the delegate of the Junta Government in Cádiz, Mercedes Colombo, has confirmed that the easterly wind is expected to "go more" and that the sources that had been detected are "all controlled."

In addition, he has underlined the "so important" work that the 265 troops who have participated in the device to put out this fire have carried out, between Infoca, together with 112, National and Local Police, Fire Consortium, 061, Civil Guard, Red Cross and Civil Protection. "All the administrations have collaborated, which is what has to be done in a device like this," argued the Andalusian manager.

Like Infoca, Colombo has appealed to the public not to go near the Parque de las Canteras or try to access it because "there have been no personal misfortunes to regret but if they enter it could happen that any branch, anything that is burning produces a personal misfortune that can be avoided".

For his part, Custodio Andrades, deputy inspector of the El Puerto-Puerto Real Police Station, has asked for citizen collaboration to try to clarify the causes, origin and possible authorship of this fire.

The Junta de Andalucía activated this Sunday at 5:15 p.m. the level 1 alert for the forest fire in the Parque de las Canteras Puerto Real area, after the fire was declared at 3:35 p.m. by Infoca.

The fire also reached the salt pan area known as La Algaida, where salicornia algae predominate. However, as it is a humid part, the fire did not advance in that part, also thanks to the firebreaks that had been made.

The fire also affected the electricity supply in a part of the capital of Cádiz, which experienced power cuts in various areas for several hours, as well as traffic, where the accesses to Cádiz were cut off on Sunday afternoon by both bridges --Carranza and Constitución-- and both directions of the AP-4 motorway, which connects Seville with the province of Cádiz, at kilometer 104, the height of Puerto Real.
