Sumar has announced this Tuesday the incorporation of the philosopher and writer Elizabeth Duval as its campaign spokesperson on feminism, equality and LGTBI rights and freedoms.

According to reports from the party led by Vice President Yolanda Díaz, Duval is an "intellectual reference" in the country that will promote, from Sumar, an "open, dialogue and inclusive feminism" to expand rights and advance in the construction of a Spain free, diverse and proud".

Through social networks, Duval has published a statement after being designated as a benchmark for the campaign on feminism and LGTBi rights to explain that although she received the proposal with a certain "vertigo", she faces this responsibility with enthusiasm and trusting that she is up to " ".

Then, the trans activist also reflected that "staying out" in political criticism would have been "easy", but that what is difficult is "trying to change things" while stressing that it is "very important to raise the level of public discussion" in this country and that the youth have to take up the task of transforming the country.

In turn, and in statements to 'La Sexta', Duval has stressed that feminism "is not just a tiny patrimony" or "a defense of a tiny collective", but a political project and intellectual reference "for everyone".

"I will always be found there. I have never participated in cultural debates, nor in feminist debates, nor in any type of debate, to dig any trenches or sectarianism," Duval added, adding that he has been entrusted the task of an "integrative and open" feminism.

Finally, he stressed that he joins Sumar because he believes in the candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, who asked him to take that step forward as an independent to give a "horizon of certainties" for the next decade.

TRAJECTORY

During his literary and intellectual career, Duval has published essays such as 'Después de lo trans' or 'Melancolía'. In the case of this last book, Díaz herself participated together with the writer in her presentation that took place in Madrid on April 13.

In this way, Duval joins the list of incorporations of Sumar to his campaign team, such as the case of the Secretary of Social Rights, Nacho Álvarez (Economy), the leader of Podemos Alejandra Jacinto (Vivienta), the MEP Maria Eugenia Rodríguez Palop (campaign coordinator), and her colleague in Brussels Ernest Urtasun, who is the spokesperson for the candidacy team.

Born in Alcalá de Henares, Duval has a degree in Philosophy from the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbona and French Philology from the Sorbona Nueva University, as well as Secretary of Equality of the Union of Journalists of Madrid.

In turn, Duval attended the official launch of the candidacy for the Presidency of the Díaz Government, which took place on April 2 in a massive event at the Antonio Magariños sports center in Madrid. He has also attended other events related to Díaz and his political project.

In the presentation of her work 'Melancolía', the writer defended the need to recover something as important as "hope" in politics, to make it ugly that the life of the parties is marked by the "short-termism" of electoral cycles every four years.
