MADRID, 6 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has declared in Congress that he received a salary of more than 37,000 euros from his party in the last year, which is about 18,000 euros less than what he said he received the first time he obtained a certificate of deputy, after the April 2019 elections.

This is stated in the declaration of assets and income that Abascal presented in Congress at the beginning of the current legislature and which was published this Thursday on the institution's website after the corresponding approval of the Board and the lawyers.

The statement of the Vox leader, collected by Europa Press, reflects that he received a total of 37,357.8 euros from the party throughout last year, a salary that has been reduced considerably compared to what he declared in 2019, when he said he had received 55,148 euros of training.

At that time Abascal did not declare income other than party payments, while now he has served four years as a congressman. Therefore, while in 2019 he said he had paid 13,200 euros in personal income tax, in his letter this year he communicates that he has paid 41,784.59 euros in the previous year.

Vox set foot in the Palacio de la Carrera de San Jerónimo for the first time in those April 2019 elections, with 24 deputies, but the electoral repetition led Abascal's party to add up to 52 seats, the highest number they have achieved to date. Last July it obtained 33 deputies.

The remuneration of 37,000 euros does not reach the 39,260 euros that the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has declared upon his arrival in Congress as representation expenses that 'Genoa' paid him last year.

For his part, the general secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, does not declare PSOE salaries, only his remuneration as president of the Government, and in any case he does declare payments to his party in proportion to his public position.

In this new statement, Abascal reports that he has a mortgage loan worth 368,000 euros for the purchase of a house that he acquired in July 2020 and for which a total of 341,300 euros still remains to be repaid.

Likewise, the leader of Vox has indicated to the Chamber that he has a checking account with just over 29,000 euros (in 2019 he said he had 13,558 euros), as well as a Jeep Commander SUV and a BMW motorcycle, the same vehicles from then.

In addition to the declaration of assets, before acquiring their seat, the deputies must also fill out a declaration of activities and another declaration of economic interests. In the latter, those elected must record the activities they carried out in the five years prior to obtaining the seat and "that may condition their political activity or have provided them with economic income", the donations or gifts received in that time, as well as the foundations or Associations to which you have contributed.

In his statement, Abascal assures that "none" of the activities carried out in the last five years "will be able to condition" his political work "as long as it will always be carried out at the service of the best interest of Spain and of the Spanish people, with loyalty to the Constitution and the rest of the legal system in force".

In addition, the Vox leader points out that the gifts received in the last five years are "exclusively" typical of family, friendly or social relationships "without relevant material or economic scope" and that "none" is of "special consideration and value". .
