Abascal denies a purge in Vox with the formation of the electoral lists: "There is a lot of defamation"

MADRID, 23 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has denied this Friday a purge in the preparation of the party's electoral lists for the next elections on July 23 and has denounced that these accusations respond to a "defamation" that arises from the media Communication.

Vox is presented to the general elections with renewal in 47 percent of the 'number one' of its candidates for Congress. In addition, it leaves 13 of the 52 deputies it achieved in the November 2019 elections off the lists.

"There has been a small reconfiguration. There is a lot of defamation from the media out there," Abascal said in an interview on El Toro TV, collected by Europa Press, in which he explained that he has tried to think "how the next parliamentary group" looking for "the profiles that seem most suitable".

In this sense, the leader of Vox has specified that the Provincial Executive Committees have participated in the configuration and, later, the National Committee, where "lists that are quite continuous" have been voted but also thinking about a future Government. "They could be useful in other tasks in the future because if the Spanish want to, we are going to have to assume many responsibilities and not only parliamentary, but also in government areas," he pointed out, referring to the leaders who have been excluded.

Questioned about the lack of agreement with the PP in Extremadura, Abascal has insisted that his party is not going to "betray" the trust of its voters, reiterating that the votes are not going to be "given away". At this point, he regretted that the 'popular' candidate María Guardiola does not resemble the PP of Castilla y León or the Community of Valencia, but resembles a "blue PSOE".

"It is difficult to support someone who not only insults you, demonizes you and puts unacceptable conditions on you, but also says that you are obliged to give them your votes. We are perplexed and concerned at what we consider irresponsible," he said.
