Santander launches a senior preferred debt issue

Banco Santander has returned to the markets to place a new issue of senior preferred debt denominated in euros, according to market sources.

The bonds will mature in four years, with a cancellation option in the third year, and will pay an annual coupon. The starting interest price is 'midswap' plus 125 basis points.

The placement banks are Santander itself, ABN Amro, Barclays, Credit Agricole CIB, Danske Bank and NatWest Markets.
