MADRID, 29 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Equality and leader of Podemos, Irene Montero, assured this Thursday morning in Congress that the agreement with the PSOE on fiscal measures "is close" and that she hopes that it will include the commitment to reduce the VAT applied to menstrual hygiene products.

"We are still negotiating, we have to agree on the global Budgets," he said, asked by the media moments before going to the plenary session in the Lower House, although he pointed out that in fiscal matters they are "close" to closing the deal.

"It is true that in taxation we are close", the minister added, considering "especially important" that in this agreement "the commitment" to reduce the VAT applied to menstrual hygiene products, known as the 'purple rate', is fulfilled, and who has defended that "it must be reflected in the Budgets".

Another of the aspects that he has highlighted and that both parties are negotiating is to tighten the taxation of capital income in personal income tax to bring its taxation closer to income derived from work.

The declarations of the Minister of Equality come after the Minister of Finance and Public Administration, María Jesús Montero, announced an agreement on her arrival in Congress on fiscal measures, although from United We Can they have specified that it is not yet closed and that negotiations are still open.

In any case, the Treasury has called a press conference for the minister at 11:30 am at the Ministry's headquarters "to analyze the fiscal situation in Spain and transfer the news on tax matters."
