The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, thanked the people involved in the rescue and emergency work on Wednesday night after a helicopter crash in the Ukrainian city of Brovary, in the kyiv region, which has left about about twenty dead, including the Minister of the Interior, Denis Monarstirski.

"The rescue operation in Brovary has lasted almost nine hours (...) Hundreds of people have taken part in extinguishing the fire, searching for and rescuing the injured, carrying out the first actions," he pointed out.

"I thank everyone involved in this rescue operation today," he declared in reference to police officers, National Guard soldiers, employees of the Security Service or health authorities.

He also thanked the residents and educators of the school where the helicopter crashed, for evacuating the children and helping the injured.

On the other hand, he explained that the Ukrainian Security Service "has launched a criminal investigation into this terrible event." The goal of the Ukrainian authorities in cooperating between the authorized bodies "to clarify all the circumstances of the accident."

In this sense, he explained that "as soon as clear facts are established about what exactly led to the accident", he will provide this information.

The Ukrainian president also pointed out that the situation on the front "remains difficult." For this reason, he has stressed that he has been in constant contact with the troops, insisting that "the fiercest battles" continue in Donbas.

"We noticed a gradual increase in the number of bombing occasions and attempted offensive actions by the occupiers," it said.

For this reason, he has transferred his gratitude to the "warriors who are maintaining their positions", who "hit the enemy very effectively and for the resistance" put in the region.
