The president admits that the situation in Bakhmut "is becoming more and more difficult"

MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has once again asked for "modern" combat aircraft in order to "protect the entire territory" of Ukraine, in reference to the latest attacks carried out by Russian troops on Monday and which have resulted in the lives of at least two people.

Zelenski has explained that three employees of the country's emergency services have been injured and two have died, after a drone attacked the city of Khmelnitski when workers were extinguishing the fire from a previous attack that occurred during the night.

"That is why we need the aviation component of air defense, modern fighter jets, to protect the entire territory of our country from Russian terror. Air defense is complete only when it is supported by modern aviation," Zelensky explained. in the evening speech he has delivered every day since the war began, on February 24, 2022.

Thus, the Ukrainian president has indicated that the members of the Ukrainian Air Force "are already doing a great job, but we will be able to fully protect the sky when the aviation taboo in relations with our partners is lifted."

The Ukrainian authorities reported on Monday that the death toll had risen to two due to the latest attacks carried out by the Russian Army against the city of Khmelnitski, in western Ukraine, on a night in which the Russian military had used 14 allegedly Iranian-made kamikaze drones.

Zelensky has admitted that the situation in Bakhmut, the main scene of the latest clashes between Russia and Ukraine, "is becoming increasingly difficult."

"The enemy is constantly destroying everything that can be used to protect our positions, to gain a foothold and secure the defense," he recounted, while thanking the "warriors who defend Bakhmut", whom he considers "true heroes".

"I appreciate each and everyone who helps our warriors and does everything they can to ensure that our defenders have as many weapons, long-range weapons, powerful weapons as possible," he added.
