Xi Jinping re-elected as Chinese president

MADRID, 10 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Xi Jinping has been unanimously re-elected as president of China, guaranteeing his third term of five years (2023-2028), in an unprecedented case in the country.

During the National People's Congress in Beijing, one of the main meetings of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), nearly 3,000 delegates have voted in favor of a new extension of the term of the president, who has already taken the constitutional oath.

The president had already annulled the age and term limits in the XX Central Committee of the PPCh that took place in October, at which time he consolidated his power by ratifying himself as secretary general.

In addition, Xi will also once again hold the post of chairman of the Central Military Commission, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

On the other hand, Han Zheng, who was mayor of Shanghai between 2003 and 2012, has been elected vice president of the country.
