MADRID, 11 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Tunisian Coast Guard has rescued a total of 326 migrants in Mediterranean waters, specifically in the Sousse region, during the night from Friday to Saturday.

In total, eight rescue operations were carried out in which 44 Tunisians and 282 sub-Saharan migrants were located, reports the Tunisian newspaper 'Le Maghreb' in its online edition.

The Tunisian National Guard has also intercepted 90 sub-Saharan migrants who had entered the country through the border with Algeria, reports Shems FM radio.

The General Directorate of the Tunisian National Guard has stressed that it "works to combat crime at sea, protect human lives and prosecute gangs that organize irregular migration operations."
