Thousands of protesters in London call for early elections

MADRID, 5 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Thousands of people have supported this Saturday a demonstration to demand the calling of early elections and protest against the increase in the cost of living.

Unions and social organizations united in the People's Assembly coordinator have called the "United Kingdom is broken" march that has covered the distance between the Victoria Pier and Trafalgar Square in the rain, where several speakers have intervened, such as the general secretary of the Trade Union of Rail and Sea Transport (RMT), Mick Lynch, reports The Press Association agency.

The organizers defend the immediate call for elections, measures against low wages and the repeal of laws that they consider directed against unions.

One of the attendees, Adam Robinson, has assured that people "will continue to shout" until the Government listens and has compared these protests with the revolts against the single tax established by the government of Margaret Thatcher in 1990.

"I'm starting to feel a pinch and I know a lot of people are feeling it too," said Robinson, a 51-year-old secondary school teacher in Maidstone, Kent.

"This government is a total disaster. It is not good for what it has to do and it is doing damage to our country. I think it is important that we stand up together so that our voice is heard and say that we are not going to put up with this," he argued. .

From the stage, Lynch has promised to strike "again and again" until a "fair deal" is achieved for the railroad workers.

The former leader of the Labor Party Jeremy Corbyn has also participated, who has assured that the government "in the end will have to listen" to the requests for salary increases and the defense of labor rights.

"People are very determined. They are not going to consent to discrimination against people with disabilities. They are not going to see an increasing impoverishment of our society," he stressed.
