The president of Peru dismisses her prime minister and announces a cabinet reshuffle

Boluarte rules out resigning because his "resignation would be to agree with the violentists"

The President of Peru, Dina Boluarte, announced this Sunday that she is dismissing her Prime Minister, Pedro Angulo, in the context of the country's political crisis, which has so far resulted in the death of 25 citizens in protests demanding the call for early elections and the release of former leader Pedro Castillo.

The Peruvian president has reported that she will change the country's 'premier', who has been in power for ten days, as part of a cabinet restructuring that will take place this Tuesday and that affects three ministries.

However, he has assured that he rules out resigning from his position because they would not "change the problems" that "are unattended" nor would the demonstrations end.

"My resignation will be to agree with the violentists," he assured in relation to the protests that are taking place in various parts of the country.

Thus, he has indicated that he is looking for an Executive that knows the technical part, but that is "a little more political to be able to face" social discontent "and build bridges for dialogue", according to what the local media have reported.

Boluarte has indicated that dialogue should be prioritized in the context of the political crisis: "This government must be in open-door dialogue in the ministries with the new rulers, as well as the Congress," he declared in the first interviews with the media since he was sworn in.

Thus, he has assured that the Prosecutor's Office is "carrying out the pertinent investigations" regarding the preliminary balance of victims during the demonstrations. "The deaths of people in the midst of this violence hurt me," she said.

However, Boluarte has maintained that his Executive has ordered "the correct measures" to contain the acts of violence, by establishing the use of tear gas and not pellets, despite some images that have been disseminated on social networks.

"We have taken the correct measures to call the country to calm down, but above all to take care of life and health, and also people's businesses," he described.

"MACHO POLITICAL REVENGE"

The Peruvian president has criticized a "macho political revenge" according to some political sectors, referring to the fact that she has become the first woman to hold the position in the history of the Latin American country.

"I am not of a different choice. They made me hear that if they vacate Pedro Castillo, they can assume all except Dina Boluarte. It is a macho political revenge," she assured before adding that she is not "a traitor": "I am president in compliance with the Constitution", he stressed.
