The alleged perpetrator of the shooting in Hamburg, Germany, found dead

The Hamburg Police have confirmed that officers have found the body of the suspected shooter at a Jehovah's Witness religious center in Hamburg, Germany.

The agents assume that there is only one attacker and have begun to remove the security measures that were still in place in the area of ​​the event, as confirmed through their Twitter account, while they continue to investigate the reasons for the crime, which they have described as of "massacre".

In statements to the media collected by the German news agency DPA, a police spokesman has confirmed that the agents of the support patrol for special operations (USE, for its acronym in German), went very quickly to the place because they were " coincidentally very, very close."

It has also confirmed that, although an event had been held in the center that same afternoon, they do not know its nature or if it could be related to the crime. They have enabled a portal on their website so that people with information can provide images or videos of what happened to the Police.

According to information from the tabloid 'Bild', collected by DPA, at least seven people have died and another eight have been injured during the attack, while the Police have confirmed that there are fatalities, without giving a specific number.

The event occurred in the Gross Borstel neighborhood, after which the authorities launched a "major police operation" and moved to the location with "a large contingent of forces."

The person in charge of the functions of the Interior in Hamburg, Andy Grote, has thanked them on Twitter for their work, in facing an "extremely challenging situation" very quickly.

On the other hand, the mayor of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher, has conveyed his condolences for what happened and has acknowledged that the information of which he is aware is "shocking."
