Sunak warns Ukraine not to accept negotiations with Russia until its complete withdrawal

MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has warned the Ukrainian authorities not to accept any peace negotiations or dialogue with Russia until the invading troops have left Ukrainian territory.

According to the 'premier', with the excuse of a hypothetical ceasefire, Russia could take the opportunity to regroup or reinforce its positions and supply its troops with supplies in those most compromised points, reports the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.

"We must realize that any unilateral call for a ceasefire by Russia is absolutely senseless in the current context," warned Sunak, who believes that such negotiations should not be accepted until Russia leaves Ukraine.

Along these lines, the British head of government has recommended that Ukraine continue to focus on "reducing" Russia's capabilities to regroup and resupply, while urging the international community to sanction Russia's supply chains.

"Our collective determination is clear, we have supported and will continue to support Ukraine. This is first and foremost because their security is our security," the British Prime Minister said on the sidelines of a Joint Expeditionary Force summit in Latvia.

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has participated in the meeting and has taken the opportunity to reinforce the arms supply to Ukraine by the powers that make up the Joint Expeditionary Force: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
