Poland threatens Germany with "international isolation" if it refuses to send 'Leopard' tanks to Ukraine

MADRID, 23 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Polish authorities have threatened on Monday the German government with "international isolation" if it finally refuses to send the 'Leopard' tanks that Ukraine claims to face the Russian forces in the framework of the invasion of the country.

The Polish Deputy Foreign Minister, Arkadiusz Mularczyk, has pointed out that Europe "is playing a great role" not only to achieve "the Ukrainian victory" but "in favor of the influence of the United States".

Mularczyk has warned that Germany will be completely isolated if it does not relent and hand over the tanks, according to the Polish Radio station. This is how he referred to the words of the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, who assured on Sunday that Berlin will not interfere in the shipment by Poland of this type of tanks.

"We have to understand that Germany, without giving consent to supply these tanks to Ukraine, falls into isolation. If they continue to stick to this position, then it is going to become an extremely weak position," he said.

In this sense, he has qualified that "it is not only about aid to Ukraine but also about the arms market". "They have a big game on their hands and (...) the Germans and the French know it," she pointed out.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz insisted on Sunday that Germany is acting in coordination with its allies to proceed with sending the tanks. On Friday, ministers from fifty countries met at the Ramstein military base in Germany to address the issue.
