KFOR will carry out the scheduled maneuvers in Kosovo to prepare the response to a possible crisis

MADRID, 18 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The NATO Force for Kosovo (KFOR) has reported that in the coming days it will carry out the maneuvers it had planned near the Novi Selo base with a view to preparing its troops for an eventual crisis.

"This exercise aims to train KFOR units to guarantee freedom of movement in a crisis situation. It will consist of a series of tactical simulations and logistical activities using military convoys with heavy engineering vehicles and helicopters," KFOR explained in a statement picked up by the Serbian media.

KFOR has stressed that these are already programmed maneuvers, thus separating it from the current situation of tension, when the Serb minority in northern Kosovo has been at the barricades for nine days to block the main roads in protest of non-compliance of the pacts reached with the Kosovar authorities and for the arrest of Serb officials.

"KFOR is fully focused on the day-to-day implementation of its functions in accordance with Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 to ensure a secure environment and freedom of movement for the good of all communities living in Kosovo," the statement stressed. NATO force.

Precisely this Sunday it has been reported that KFOR has blocked the administrative crossing of the town of Jarinje, in the north of Kosovo, with the installation of a wire fence and several SUVs crossed. That crossing was under control of the Police, as was the Brnjak crossing.

An event under the slogan "Never a border" organized by Serbian, Montenegrin and Republika Srpska nationalists was scheduled for this Sunday, so there is a huge police deployment.

The Kosovar Serbs are demanding the release of former police officers Srdan Trajkovic and Dejan Pantic and an individual identified as Milan Adzic, as well as the withdrawal of the Kosovar Special Police from northern Kosovo.
