Japan, the US, South Korea, Canada, Australia and New Zealand meet after the launch of Pyongyang

MADRID, 19 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leaders of Japan, the United States, South Korea, Canada, Australia and New Zealand have held an emergency meeting after North Korea's latest launch of a new intercontinental ballistic missile on Friday.

The leaders have met on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum that is being held in Bangkok (Thailand) where all of them are summoned, according to Japanese public television NHK.

US Vice President Kamala Harris has assured that the launch "destabilizes the security of the region" and "unnecessarily" increases tension. In addition, she has indicated that she strongly condemns these actions and demands that North Korea not carry out more "illegal acts of destabilization."

In this sense, the six countries have reaffirmed their commitment to work together in the process of denuclearization of Pyongyang.
