The UN regrets the helicopter crash that has claimed the life of the Minister of the Interior

MADRID, 18 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, has acknowledged that he does not see that the war in Ukraine could end "in the immediate future", for which he has called to continue showing solidarity with the citizens who are suffering firsthand the ravages of the invasion launched in February 2022 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"There will be an end, but I don't see it in the immediate future," said Guterres, pessimistic that there could be "at this time" a "serious" dialogue between the Ukrainian and Russian authorities. "A solution based on international law is needed that respects territorial integrity," he added.

In this sense, from the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland), he recalled that the two parties have "different ideas" on different aspects, such as "what the Russian empire was", and warned that "this makes it difficult to find a solution".

The UN has also joined the list of international condolences for the death of the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior in a helicopter accident. Some "tragic deaths", in the words of the coordinator in Ukraine, Denise Brown, to which are added children from a nursery on which the device fell on the outskirts of kyiv.
