Germany "will not object" if other countries want to deliver Leopard tanks to Ukraine

MADRID, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Sunday that Germany "will not oppose" if other countries intend to deliver German-made Leopard main battle tanks to Ukraine. Poland has already stated its intention to deliver these weapons to kyiv.

"They have not asked us the question so far, but if they do, we are not going to oppose it," Baerbock said in an interview with French television LCI when asked what would happen if Poland delivers Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

Until now Germany had refused both to deliver these tanks to kyiv and Poland has criticized the "unacceptable" position of Berlin in this regard.

"Almost a year has passed since the outbreak of the war. The evidence of Russian war crimes can be seen even on YouTube. What else does Germany need to open its eyes and start acting according to its potential?" demanded this Sunday the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki.

Finland has also signaled its willingness to provide Leopard tanks to the Ukrainian Army, but, like Poland, it needs the go-ahead from Germany as a manufacturer of these main battle tanks.
