French Police detain more than 100 people after France's victory against Morocco

MADRID, 15 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The French Police Prefecture has reported this Thursday the arrest of 115 people in the Paris region, including 101 in Paris, after France's victory over Morocco in the semifinal of the World Cup.

Several rallies have taken place on Wednesday night in the French capital after the end of the match between France and Morocco, particularly on the Champs-Élysées, where there have been more incidents, police sources have reported to BFMTV.

On the Champs-Élysées, supporters of the French soccer team have launched fireworks at French Police officers, who have responded by firing tear gas and charging at the fans.

Meanwhile, a child under the age of 14 died overnight after being hit by a hit-and-run driver in the city of Montpelier.

The young man was rushed to a nearby hospital after being hit by a car, and died shortly after being treated, according to a statement from the French prefecture of Hérault.

The events reportedly took place when a group of people, presumably followers of the Morocco soccer team, were walking down the street and snatched the French flag that was hanging from the window of a vehicle.

After that, the car has started a flight and has run over several people, including the minor, according to a video broadcast on social networks.
