Biden says he has no "regrets" for not disclosing the discovery of classified documents

MADRID, 20 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has affirmed this Thursday that he "does not regret" the management of the classified documents from his era as vice president during the term of Barack Obama found in an old office and a home.

"I do not regret anything," said Biden, who has indicated that he is "following" the guidelines of his legal team. "That is exactly what we are doing," she reiterated.

"When we discovered that a handful of documents were filed in the wrong place, we immediately turned them over to the Archives and the Department of Justice," the US president explained.

He has also predicted that an investigation into the case would find no wrongdoing. "We are cooperating fully and we hope this is resolved quickly. I think they are going to discover that there is nothing there," she said.

Biden has expressed his irritation at the questions from journalists regarding the scandal of the documents, after being asked about the case during his visit to California on the occasion of the strong storm that has left several fatalities and damaged infrastructure.

These statements by the president of the United States come at a time when White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre and the Biden Administration's attorney's office face daily questions about the lack of government transparency. by failing to disclose the discovery of papers at the Penn Biden Center in November.

Biden's team confirmed the finding this month, after it was reported on by CBS. The first documents would have been found by the president's lawyers on November 2, six days before the midterm legislative elections.
