Beijing stops requiring negative tests to enter supermarkets, shopping centers and state offices

MADRID, 6 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The authorities in Beijing, the Chinese capital, have reported that they will no longer require negative tests to enter supermarkets, shopping centers and state offices in an attempt to ease the measures imposed against the coronavirus in the face of the wave of protests registered in various parts of the country.

The local government has indicated in a statement that this type of test will no longer be requested to access some public spaces and has indicated that it will only be necessary to "scan the health codes before accessing these public" venues.

The new measures have been implemented in light of the criticism leveled by a large part of the population against the 'COVID zero' policy of the Chinese government. Now, users of public transport will also be able to access the facilities without presenting negative tests. Nor will they be necessary to enter residential areas or move to other locations.

This type of mass test has been essential for the Asian giant when it comes to tracing COVID-19 contacts in the midst of a pandemic. However, some venues will continue to maintain this measure, such as cafeterias, bars, karaoke bars, hospitals and nurseries, among others.

The local authorities have pointed out that the different districts of Beijing should improve the test service and have recalled the importance of using masks and reducing contacts.
