At least two people have died and another four have been injured, two of them in critical condition, by the shots fired this Friday by an armed man in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, as confirmed by the French capital's Prosecutor's Office in a statement collected on BFMTV.

The suspect in the shooting, identified as a 69-year-old man, has been arrested, as confirmed by prosecutors, who have confirmed the opening of an investigation on charges of "murder, intentional homicide and aggravated violence."

The mayoress of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has thanked the Police for their "decisive intervention in the terrible attack in the 10th arrondissement" while her deputy mayor, Emmanuel Grégoire, has announced the displacement of a psychological care team to the site, according to reports announced on their respective Twitter accounts.

Sources close to the investigation have explained to the chain that the individual would have been arrested after opening fire near a Kurdish community center on Enghien street.

The Paris Prefecture has limited itself to confirming an ongoing incident in the area, as well as one person arrested, and urged the population not to approach the place, according to a brief message on its Twitter account.
