Three other sexual offenders convicted in Asturias see their sentences reduced by the law of 'only yes is yes'

Three new sexual offenders convicted in Asturias have seen their sentences reduced when the Provincial Court of Oviedo applied the principle of applying the most beneficial legislation for the prisoner, after the entry into force of the new law on sexual freedom, popularly known as the ' only yes is yes'.

This is evident in three orders issued by the Provincial Court, which considers it appropriate to attend to the request of the legal representation of the convicted person, once the new rule is applied.

One of the orders refers to modifying the sentence of a man to 28 years for two crimes of sexual assault with the use of weapons (14 years each) and 20 years for two crimes of sexual assault with penetration (10 years each). . According to the new law, the order reduces the crimes of sexual assault with the use of weapons to a penalty of 10 years and six months each (21 years in total) and 9 years in prison in the case of crimes of sexual assault. with penetration (18 years in total). In other words, the review supposes nine years in prison less than the sentence imposed on him in 2010.

On the other hand, the Provincial Court also reviews the conviction of a man for sexual abuse of a child under thirteen years of age. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2016. Now, with the review, the sentence is reduced to 9 years and one day.

The third of the court orders is the one related to a man who was sentenced in 2017 as the perpetrator of a continuous crime of sexual abuse with penetration of a minor under 16 years of age to a sentence of six years in prison. After the application of the new regulation, prison time is reduced to five and a half years.
