The TSJC maintains 25% of Spanish in two other Catalan schools and there are already 14

BARCELONA, Nov. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has ratified the precautionary measures that it imposed in classrooms of two schools, one in Castelldefels (Barcelona) and the other in La Canonja (Tarragona), so that at least 25% of teaching hours are taught in Spanish.

In the records, consulted by Europa Press, the TSJC dismisses two appeals from the Department of Education of the Generalitat against court records that ruled out the request to strike down these precautionary measures by appealing to the new regulations of the Government on languages in education, which establishes explicitly the non-application of percentages.

In its argument, the TSJC indicates that the Generalitat has submitted a request for the revocation of the precautionary measure "without accrediting the result of the application of the new legislation in the affected school, it being understood that the inspection report provided with the appeal of replacement is limited to a generic approach".

The court has remarked that "there is no evidence that the school has applied the new legislation and what the result has been" and affirms that the linguistic project must be reviewed based on the new parameters and the eventual revision of the precautionary measure can only be addressed in view of the new situation, considering the analysis of the sociolinguistic environment carried out by the school and the specific distribution of linguistic uses that results for the recurrent student.

As reported by the Association for a Bilingual School (AEB), with these there are already 14 schools in which the revocation of precautionary measures has been rejected.
