The 'Paterna in motion' project, awarded by the Spanish Network of Smart Cities

VALENCIA, 13 Dec. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Paterna (Valencia) has become one of the four cities recognized by the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI) in 2023 thanks to the good practices carried out by the City Council to make the city a more innovative, cosmopolitan and sustainable municipality. .

This was announced by the Smart City Councilor, Lucas Jodar, after the 'Paterna on the move' project, designed with intelligent mobility sensors, was awarded in the Government, Social Innovation and Smart Economy Award category, at the III International Congress of the RECI.

The objective of this project, framed within the Plan Actua of the Paterna City Council and co-financed with European funds from Edusi, is to obtain a data infrastructure with real-time information on the mobility of people in the city of Paterna to improve and optimize efficiently the different municipal services by installing Bluetooth and Wifi sensors in municipal buildings.

To this end, and in order to detect the influx of people and assess mobility patterns, nearly 40 sensors were installed in the main public centers and buildings such as libraries, sports, social and cultural centers.

Councilor Jodar highlighted that "this project is one more commitment by the socialist Executive to make Paterna a more innovative, cosmopolitan and sustainable city at the service of its citizens."

Likewise, presence sensors are also installed in the different nuclei or areas of the municipality such as industrial zones, neighborhoods and leisure spaces where cultural and festive events in the city are usually held, as they have already been used successfully in the case of the celebration of the Cordà de Paterna in its Major Festivals.
