The First Section of the Provincial Court of Valencia has sentenced a National Police agent to pay a fine of 4,500 euros and two years of special disqualification for the performance of public employment or office, for a crime of revealing secrets. provided data on police actions to a third party, who was also accused in these proceedings but has been acquitted.

The convicted person worked in the Response, Conduction and Custody services of the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade and carried out his duties mainly in the transfer and custody of detainees, as reported by the Superior Court of Justice in a statement.

According to the sentence, between 2018 and 2019 the agent made 77 queries of various kinds to the restricted-access police databases, at the request of his friend. In this way, he accessed police records, reports or complaints, which contained personal data of witnesses or complainants.

On one of the occasions, on August 15, 2018, the convicted agent was on vacation and, after receiving a request for information from his friend, he contacted a co-worker who was active, provided him with the access codes and He asked him to consult a police report.

Once he obtained the information, he passed it on to his friend through three screenshots, which contained data from the witnesses in the case and the information they had given to the Police. The sentence is not final and can be appealed before the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.
