The chief of the policemen staying at the Pineda hotel (Barcelona) says that Mossos protected the perimeter

BARCELONA, 17 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The chief of the National Police agents staying at the hotel in Pineda de Mar (Barcelona) for 1-O declared this Tuesday that, when three City Council officials wanted to evict the police, a group of protesters gathered outside and there were Mossos d'Esquadra "protecting" the perimeter of the accommodation.

He said it in his statement as a witness before the judge of Section 6 of the Barcelona Court that is trying the deputy mayor of the town, Jordi Masnou; the deputy mayor Carmen Aragonés --both from the PSC--, and the head of the Local Police, Carles Santacreu, for an alleged crime of coercion against the municipal hotel where the agents stayed days before 1-O.

Likewise, the head of the Police has reiterated that protest rallies were held for the lodging of the agents in the hotel and that there were moments of "tension".

The Prosecutor's Office requested three years in prison and disqualification for the three defendants, but this Tuesday, during the first session of the trial, it has reduced the sentence of the two mayors to one year in prison and one year of disqualification for having recognized the facts.

On the contrary, the head of the Local Police does not recognize the facts and the Prosecutor's Office maintains the sentence of three years in prison, although his lawyer requests an acquittal.

The second and last session of the trial will be held this Wednesday with other witnesses, the statement of the three defendants, the documentary evidence and the reports and conclusions.
