BARCELONA, Nov. 16 (EUROPA PRESS) -
The Minister of Justice of the Generalitat, Gemma Ubasart, explained this Wednesday that she is committed to a modern Catalan Civil Code to guarantee and reinforce the basic rights of citizens.
He said this during the inauguration of the conference '20 years of the Civil Code of Catalonia', in which he expressed: "The defense of one's own right has always been a key piece of self-government, and the recognition of the Civil Code soon raised the need to modernize our historical civil law".
This conference wants to put on the table the relevance of the Catalan Civil Code from a set of round tables, colloquiums and interventions focused on topics such as the right of individuals and families, inheritance law, real rights, obligations and contracts, or the future of the Civil Code.
"We will study all the cracks of our competence framework to advance in the area of citizenship rights, placing special emphasis on housing and equality between men and women. We want a modern and updated Civil Code, which is an instrument of progress", Ubasart has assured.
For her part, the Director of Law, Legal Entities and Mediation, Inmaculada Barral, will be in charge of moderating the last session as well as closing these two days of conferences.
