MADRID, 1 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The judge of the National Court (AN) José Luis Calama, who is investigating the explosive letter at the Ukrainian Embassy as terrorism, will be in charge of investigating the envelope with pyrotechnic material sent to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, together with the suspicious packages located in the Ministry of Defence, the Torrejón de Ardoz air base and a company in Zaragoza.

Legal sources have confirmed to Europa Press that the head of the Central Investigating Court Number 4 will add these new cases to the case that he opened this Wednesday as a result of the explosive envelope that injured a worker from the Ukrainian diplomatic legation.

The same sources explain that the National Police has already informed the magistrate of the existence of the package that supposedly contains explosives. However, the judge is waiting to receive this Thursday from the National Police a series of preliminary reports that will include details about the suspicious correspondence.

The interception of the envelope to Pedro Sánchez took place on November 24, after the services of the Security Department of the Presidency of the Government, in the tasks of screening and filtering correspondence, detected a suspicious postal item. It was an envelope addressed to the President of the Government, which had been sent by ordinary postal mail, the Ministry of the Interior has detailed in a statement.

The Security Department activated the pertinent protocols and, after securing the area, proceeded to the controlled deflagration of the envelope. At the expense of the definitive results of the analyzes that are being carried out, the envelope could contain a substance similar to that used in fireworks.

Due to its characteristics and content, this envelope would be similar to those received by the Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid, by the Instalaza company in Zaragoza and by the Torrejón Air Base. In addition, this same Thursday a suspicious package has been detected at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, located on Paseo de la Castellana.
