The former Vice President of the Government and former leader of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, has refused to reach an agreement with the Union of the Municipal Police of Madrid (UPM) during the conciliation act held this Wednesday in the Court of First Instance Number 2 of the capital, for which the union has advanced that it will sue the former 'purple' leader for his statements about the security body.
According to the legal sources consulted by Europa Press, the conciliation act, set for 12:00 p.m. on November 30, has been unsuccessful since the legal representatives of Iglesias have communicated that they were not willing to agree.
The aforementioned sources had anticipated to Europa Press that, with this conciliation, the police union wanted the former Vice President of the Government to retract his statements and apologize.
Judge Cristina Fernández Gil had called for reconciliation as a prerequisite for the UPM to file a lawsuit for serious injuries to the local body, which it will finally formalize, according to said sources.
It was on October 19 when the Madrid City Council Security and Emergencies delegate, Inmaculada Sanz, announced in the branch commission that the Madrid Municipal Police, through the Judicial Coordination Unit, had gone to court to " defend the dignity" of the agents against the former leader of Podemos.
The union took legal action against Iglesias for the statements he made on his 'podcast' on September 28. "With five aunts like (the leader of Podemos) Isa Serra on horseback we would see the entire Municipal Police of Madrid run. It would also be of no use to them. Isa would bring me the scalps of all of them and (Pablo) Echenique and I would burn them in a bonfire with Arnaldo Otegi in Arralde", he stated.
It should be remembered that for his statements Iglesias was disapproved by the Plenary of the Madrid City Council with the votes in favor of PP, Ciudadanos and Vox.
