Market Analysis: 1924-Scent in PCGS MS65 red

The 1924-S Lincoln Cent is one of them. It has a mintage of approximately 12 million cents. However, few of them were kept around the time of issue, with the majority of coins entering circulation. Heritage says that the issue was not released into circulation before 1925. This might have led to collectors missing it when they updated their collections in 1920.

Heritage's June sale, GL & SL Stonebarger Collection, featured a cent. It was graded Mint State 65 by Professional Coin Grading Service and is one of only 11 available in this grade at PCGS. This coin is marked with a green Certified Acceptance Corp. sticker.

Heritage says, "This 1924 S is from the famous Duckor Collection. It is a delightful Gem with immaculately preserved original red-orange surfaces, and satiny mint shine."

In June, it sold for $26,400. It was sold recently at Heritage's April 2020 sale of the Dr. & Mrs. Steven Duckor collection for $15,000, and for $36,000 in 2019.
