Garrigues incorporates Manuel Groenewold as a partner to strengthen the banking and financial area in Mexico

MADRID, 9 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The legal services firm Garrigues has incorporated Manuel Groenewold as a partner in the Commercial Department, thus strengthening the banking and financial area in Mexico.

With this appointment, which will be submitted for approval by a forthcoming shareholders' meeting, as explained by Garrigues in a statement, the Mexico City office will have more than 30 professionals and 8 partners.

With 30 years of experience as an advisor to both companies and financial institutions and public sector entities, the new Garrigues partner has been involved in relevant operations in the Mexican market as an expert in various areas of commercial law.

For the past 17 years, Groenewold has been a partner at another international firm in Mexico and, early in his career, has worked at the Mexican National Banking and Securities Commission, at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, and at the Institute Bank Savings Protection. More recently, he has participated as a lawyer in operations in the 'fintech' field in Mexico, including advising to achieve regulatory approval of new financial entities.

For Manuel Groenewold, his incorporation represents "a real challenge" and "an opportunity" to continue growing professionally in a firm established in Latin America and with "a clear commitment" to the region and, in particular, to Mexico.

The partner in charge of the offices in Mexico City and Bogotá, Jaime Iglesias, has valued "very positively" the possibility of being able to count on Manuel Groenewold: "His incorporation will add great value to the already solid team of professionals in our office, capable of contributing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary and different approach to issues", he commented.

For his part, Garrigues' senior partner and coordinator of the Latin American practice, Javier Ybáñez, added that having a profile like Groenewold's in Mexico reinforces the firm's commitment to Mexico and the Latin American region, always "guaranteeing" a consistent "highest quality" service, regardless of customer location or transaction complexity.
