Regrets that the woman from 'El Chicle' is not charged as a "necessary collaborator" and demands to reform the "cover-up"
A CORUÑA, 24 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -
Diana Quer's father, Juan Carlos Quer, has requested that the concealment of the corpse be cause for extension of the permanent prison sentence, in addition to demanding the modification of the Criminal Code so that the family member who "covers up" is not exempted from criminal responsibility. "a crime, in reference to the woman who was the wife of José Enrique Abuín, alias 'El Chicle', when her daughter was murdered.
In statements to journalists, before the start of the trial at the Provincial Court of A Coruña against Abuín for the alleged sexual assault on his sister-in-law, in January 2005, he expressed his confidence that he would be sentenced for these events and regretted that in the bench is not sitting "a necessary collaborator".
With this, he has referred to the ex-wife of 'El Chicle' to whom his sister told of the sexual assault but, according to her, she did not believe him. "So that all these crimes could be carried out," he pointed out in relation to the case of his daughter, Abuín's sister-in-law that occurred previously, and that of the young woman whom the defendant tried to kidnap in Boiro in 2017 and assault sexually.
In this regard, he stressed that the position of the then wife of 'El Chicle' caused "the case that is being prosecuted today 17 years later to be filed." "The cover-up that this lady gave her husband with a false alibi was the definitive cause for this individual to go unpunished for 500 days," he added about the time in which Diana Quer's body was not located and the attempt was made of sexual assault on another young woman.
Juan Carlos Quer has once again asked politicians for measures. "I have not heard any legislator say about the need to modify article 454 of the Criminal Code, which exempts the relative from criminal responsibility, in this case the woman, who covers up a crime of such seriousness and that so many victims and so much pain has created".
Specifically, he has asked them to "legislate so that this does not happen again and that this exemption from the Penal Code disappears and that this lady --Abuín's ex-wife-- can sit on the bench, because she has directly been a necessary collaborator ", he insisted.
Regarding the reform of the Penal Code regarding the concealment of the corpse, he has assured that "this behavior will be punished with a penalty that I would assimilate to that of mistreatment of a pet, from six months to two years." "It is the price that it has for the dignity of the victims, 500 days hidden in a well", he recalled about the case of his daughter.
"This, in no way, will have a deterrent effect for repeat rapists and predators," Juan Carlos Quer has stated, who has asked that it be "cause for extension of the reviewable permanent prison sentence." All this has been raised to prevent "new murderers and rapists from dismembering the body of their victim to facilitate their impunity."
