A court processes the declaration of death of Antonio Anglés, at the request of the family

VALENCIA, 6 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Court of First Instance and Instruction number 5 of Catarroja (Valencia) processes the declaration of death of the fugitive Antonio Anglés, considered the material author of the kidnapping, rape and murder of the three girls from Alcàsser, Miriam García, Desirée Hernández and Toñi Gómez, as confirmed by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.

The three girls, aged 14 and 15, were murdered in 1992 and Anglés is considered the material author of the triple crime, for which Miguel Ricart has already been sentenced to 170 years in prison. Ricart was released from prison in 2013 after the Parot doctrine was deactivated, while Anglés, whose criminal responsibility will not expire until December 2029, allegedly lost track of him in 1993 in Dublin Bay, when he was traveling as a stowaway on a ship.

The court, at the request of the Anglés family, has initiated this procedure and is waiting for the Investigating Court number 6 of Alzira, instructor of the so-called 'Alcàsser case', and which is keeping open a piece on the fugitive and in which proceedings have been carried out on hair and other evidence related to the triple crime, report on the matter.

Specifically, as published by Las Provincias this Monday, the magistrate asks the instructor of the Alcàsser case if there is any circumstance derived from the summary that prevents the request presented by a brother of the fugitive to declare the death due to the absence of Anglés.

In this case, the Laxshmi Association for the Fight against Crime and Prevention, represented as a class action, has shown its opposition to declaring Anglés's legal death "as long as evident and unequivocal evidence does not appear" of his death, and asks the instructor to keep the case open.

According to the letter to the court, to which Europa Press has had access, for this type of case "there is the legal figure of the declaration of absence, where relatives can manage patrimonial issues without having to declare the person in question dead."

According to Las Provincias, the family decided to formalize this petition after 30 years without the Police and Civil Guard having found a clue about the whereabouts of Anglés and with a view to accessing the family inheritance.

In November 2021, the National Police and Europol reactivated the search for Anglés, a common procedure followed by the Security Forces and Corps before people with a search warrant for different crimes and in which, from time to time, the searches are reactivated. requisitions that work in the cause.
