A new study, conducted by a team of researchers from the university of Paris-est Marne-la-Vallée (Upem), comes to confirm this gloomy picture. Revealed on Wednesday by France Inter, it concludes that candidates suspected of north african origin will receive 20% of responses in less than a recruiter than those with a surname perceived as French. The level of discrimination remains unchanged

results which complement the long list of work carried out since the early 2000's, who all point the finger at the discriminatory policies of the companies in france, regardless of the variable tested : the origin, place of residence, religion, sex, age, or physical appearance. "It doesn't find anything, the only information that is really new is that the level of discrimination remains unchanged," analyzes the sociologist Jean-François Amadieu, who has produced many works on the subject, especially in 2006 and 2008 for the account of the fire of the High authority of fight against discrimination and for equality (Halde). Among the last testings, conducted by Dares, the statistics department of the ministry of labour, with 40 large companies traffic in 2016. That concluded that the rate of positive responses from employers to applications "hexagonal" was 47%, compared to 36% for those so-called "maghreb".

Revealed by France Inter, this inquiry involves, therefore, less by its results than by its magnitude. This time, the researchers from the Upem have realized 8572 tests with 103 businesses, selected at random from among the 250 largest French companies (in terms of market capitalization). In total, they have as well sent not less than 17643 false nominations or requests for information. "Originally, it was a call for tenders by the Commissioner-general for equal opportunities, aimed at making an operation of testing from 40 companies in the SBF 120. But we took the opportunity to extend the window of assessment to other enterprises, to make scientific publications on off-market", explains Yannick L'horty, who led the research.

Fifteen companies have discriminatory practices proven

as a Result, the authors were able to identify fifteen companies with discriminatory practices proven to be. Who are they ? It is Impossible to know. As the minister responsible for housing and the city, Julien Denormandie, refuses to reveal their identity. "It was the name of these companies. It is not banned anything, they have to be put in door-to-fake, we'll do it. But for now, we want to work with them to compel them to change their practice", explain the services of the minister.

We do not know more. Nor on the details of the corrective measures expected or on the schedule of their implementation. On February 3, 2019, Julien Denormandie was far more va-t-en-guerre, in the program "policy Matters" of France Inter. Welcoming to receive "end of march" the results of the "largest survey of testing has ever been conducted in France, the minister had been questioned about his willingness or not to "name and shame" - that is to say, to appoint to shame. His response ? "The objective is clearly to do it". "You do ?", had insisted the journalists who conducted interviews ? "Yes," he said then, in conclusion of the show.

"We will say that is not good"

The minister would have it at the time, talked too fast, and imprudent ? Absolutely not. Because of that faithful Emmanuel Macron was then repeated promises of the president of the Republic. "I want to (...) that we make public the companies with the most women in the area", explained the head of State on November 14, 2017 in Tourcoing, during a major speech on the policy of the city. A commitment which was reaffirmed a few months later, on may 23, 2018, during a speech entitled "France, an opportunity for everyone. "All of the SBF 120, so the 120 largest companies in France, will be tested in three years (...). And we say that is not good. When there are practices, which fall under the criminal law, which are observed, it is necessary to be able to also denounce it", warned then Emmanuel Macron, speaking to an audience of business leaders.

These delays annoy actors in the promotion of diversity. Such as the national Federation of the houses of friends, who deplores that the government has not made public the names of these companies in order to poimplementation of "sue". The other reaction, that of Saïd Hammouche, president of the firm Mozaïk RH. "The name and shame, this is not the miracle solution. But perhaps we need to get there for companies to decide to take the subject seriously. It's been years that we told them to act, and that it does not move", he says.
