Zelensky urges the West to accept that "Ukraine is part of their world"

MADRID, 25 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has appealed to the "self-confidence" and unity of the West to take action against the Russian invasion and has also urged allied governments to accept that "Ukraine is part of their world".

Zelenski has taken the floor again at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland) to admit that Ukraine depends largely on the military and financial support of those governments, which he has summoned not to be afraid of Russia, according to a statement from The presidency.

A Russia that has been accused of blocking any progress in the negotiation process in the express interest of its president, Vladimir Putin. "When you are ready to face reality and understand that many innocent people are dying, you will also understand the need to speak up," he has said.

Zelenski, however, has been against "artificial agreements" and trusts that his allies provide security guarantees to Ukraine: "Without powerful and serious partners, there is nothing to talk about."

Likewise, he has insisted that kyiv will not give up its usual 'red lines' and that "it will fight until it recovers all its territories". In this sense, he has pointed out that the war is about "the independence and sovereignty" of Ukraine, which has always refused to cede territories such as Donbas and Crimea to Russia.
